Speeding in HOA communities is not uncommon. For one Greensboro community, though, it has turned into a full-blown issue, with residents taking action to make a change.
Speeding in HOA Community Grows
Residents of the River Hills Plantation neighborhood in Greensboro are increasingly alarmed as their once-serene street has become a hub for speeding and reckless driving. What was once a peaceful community is now facing a surge in dangerous driving behaviors that have residents on edge.
Recently, concerned community members recorded a green muscle car racing down Cardinal Ridge Drive, blatantly disregarding the 25 mph speed limit. This footage is evidence of a disturbing pattern of high-speed driving that has transformed the residential street into a hazardous zone.
The signs of reckless driving are evident. Burnout marks and tire tracks scar the long, straight stretch of Cardinal Ridge Drive, a road lined with homes where families reside. The sound of roaring engines and the sight of fast cars have become regular, unsettling occurrences, disrupting the neighborhood’s tranquility.
Residents Taking Action
Residents are apprehensive about the safety of their children and families, fearing that the increasing speeds on their street could lead to a serious accident. Long-time resident Kurt Geldner, who has been part of the community since the 1980s, is particularly concerned about the potential dangers, noting how quickly a child’s life could be at risk if a driver fails to react in time.
In an effort to address the issue, Geldner has contacted the Greensboro Police Department through its non-emergency line. Meanwhile, other residents have taken steps to participate in the city’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. They aim to see enhanced traffic enforcement to curb the speeding problem and make the neighborhood safer.
The community works closely with the homeowners association and local law enforcement to improve traffic conditions and identify the drivers responsible for speeding. They hope to restore safety and peace to their neighborhood before any harm comes to their loved ones.
