An employee of the Overlook Homeowners Association was accused of theft of over $200,000. Detectives have met with the HOA president according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
HOA Employee Accused of Theft
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, the Overlook Homeowners Association president met with a few detectives. He noticed that a large sum of money was missing from the HOA’s account. According to the reports, the president noticed numerous red flags regarding unnecessary changes after he attempted to provide another employee access to the account.
The Criminal Investigations Division uncovered over 160 transactions from insurance providers, utility companies, online clothing subscriptions, and retailers charged to the homeowners association’s account.
Tonya Selman, who has been employed by the association for over 10 years, was discovered to have made several charges to Hulu, Netflix, Stitch Fix, Duke Energy, and Spectrum using the account. Documents also found that Selman charged several other everyday expenses to the account. The total charges over five years have amounted to a total of $209,951.83.
Selman, the HOA employee who was accused of theft, was charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent, valued at $10,000 or more.
