Reliable HOA Management Company Folly Beach, South Carolina
Somewhere between the Morris Island lighthouse and fields of delicate yellow flowers, lies the town of Folly Beach which Cedar Management Group is pleased to serve. Folly Beach is so named because of the thick foliage that was found in the area. The city of Folly Beach is the largest settlement on Folly Island.
Folly Beach is a beautiful city. Here the trees are so thick you can only see the street that you are on, and the houses and businesses are nestled amongst the palm trees like birds in a nest. But from here it is only a short walk or drive to miles of beaches with soft sand, and waves big enough to surf. Center Street will greet you as you drive over the bridge from the mainland, and lead you to the center of town which feels like the quintessential beach town. If you follow this road further you will come directly to the famous Folly Beach Pier which stretches out 600 feet into the water. From here you are only about 3 miles out from a distant view of the Morris Island Lighthouse which stands sentinel in the middle of the water.
The first records of history in this area come from 1696 when the land was granted by King William III to William Rivers. Rivers did not live or do business on the land, however, and at the time it was still populated by the Bohicket tribe. Later the land was sold from owner to owner. The island was the site of quite a few shipwrecks, however, and more and more people who had been shipwrecked on these shores began to stay because of its beautiful and sunny climes.
The area was not formally populated by Europeans until 1939 when Folly Beach became incorporated as a town. Roads were built as well as a pier and hotel, and by the 1960s it was a popular place to come to enjoy music and fun. At the time, still not many people made it their permanent home, but the hotel was always full of guests. Now the city is home to around 2,600 people.
