As Halloween is approaching, many of our homeowners have decorated their homes in hopes of celebrating the fun, yet scary holiday. It is funny how the different homes are decorated according to one’s personality. Some homes have happy pumpkins with flashy lights and big blown up Disney characters. Others choose to decorate with tombstones, skeletons, and witches. People are different and the beauty of our difference is our personalities. Some houses are so scary, one might be terrified to walk up to the door, even if they were giving away entire bags of candy! If the house was decorated with friendly looking ghosts and smiley pumpkins, that’s where most would go Trick or Treat.
Halloween is a fun holiday where the cool, crisp breeze allows you to run around your neighborhood and collect sweets. Because of the sense of community possessed in the associations we manage, homeowners have a feeling of safety and kinship while the neighborhood kids roam around gathering candy. This is one of those times when living in an HOA is beneficial. Trusted community members that have participated in community events are the ones decorating homes and welcoming Trick or Treaters. Several of the associations we manage have had the opportunity to do things such as a fall festival or a community garage sale where neighbors have become acquainted. It is easier for a parent to allow their beloved children to roam around in costumes when they can trust the people in their neighborhoods.
This is what calling a place a home is all about. The freedom to trust the community surrounding you and having the ability to enjoy this Halloween season. Let us know how your Trick or Treating goes and how much candy you get to enjoy. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween and eats way to much candy!
